Dr. Rajika Ramakrishnan

Profile

Dr. Rajika Ramakrishnan is a committed and compassionate ENT surgeon and Consultant at Madras ENT Research Foundation Private Limited, Chennai. Her clinical work focuses on Neuro-otology and Vestibular Medicine, Cochlear Implantation, Auditory Brainstem Implantation, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and Balloon Eustachian Tuboplasty. She is the Consultant-in-Charge of the Vestibular Lab and actively contributes to MERF’s cochlear and auditory implant programmes.

She began her ENT career at MERF as an Observer after completing her postgraduate degree in ENT from Vinayaka Missions Medical College, Salem. She subsequently progressed to Senior Registrar, underwent the IAOHNS Mentorship Programme under Prof. Mohan Kameswaran, completed the Indian Association of Surgeons for Sleep Apnoea Certified Training Programme under Dr. P. Vijaya Krishnan, and pursued the Implantation Otology Fellowship under Prof. Mohan Kameswaran.

 

Current positions

  1. Consultant at Madras ENT Research Foundation Private Limited, Chennai from 2025 onwards.

  2. Consultant-in-Charge of the Vestibular Lab at Madras ENT Research Foundation.

  3. NABH In-charge of the hospital, along with Dr. Shanmugapriya N.S.

  4. Visiting Faculty, MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing, Chennai

  5. Core Committee Member, YO-IAOHNS.

 

Special interests

Her special interests are in the field of Cochlear Implantation, Vestibular Diagnostics, Balloon Eustachian Tuboplasty, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, Trans-tympanic Electrically Evoked Auditory Brainstem Response and Implantation Otology.

 

Academic and scientific contributions

Dr. Rajika has presented papers and posters at several state and national ENT conferences and was an invited speaker at the 8th GCIAN World Congress on Cochlear Implants in Emerging Nations (Buenos Aires), Argentina, 2024. She served on the Scientific Committee of CIGICON 2023 and the Organizing Committee of IASSACON 2024.

She has attended numerous national and international conferences, including IFOS 2022 (Dubai), Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh 2022 Conference, IAOHNS conferences at Jammu and Nagpur, South Zone and Karnataka AOICON, and the 18th International Conference on Cochlear Implants and Other Implantable Technologies (Warsaw), Poland. She has also attended FESS workshops, MERF’s OSCE workshops and Temporal Bone Dissection workshops.

 

Research interests

Her research interests include cochlear implantation in malformed cochleae, auditory brainstem implantation, vestibular diagnostics, Balloon Eustachian Tuboplasty outcomes, and the role of Trans-tympanic Electrically Evoked Auditory Brainstem Response in decision-making for cochlear and auditory brainstem implantation.

Dr. Rajika actively participates in training audiologists and regularly contributes to MERF’s surgical workshops and academic initiatives. Committed to community outreach, she has also taken part in several ENT camps across Tamil Nadu for hearing screening and otolaryngology services.
