Dr. Rajika Ramakrishnan

Dr. Rajika Ramakrishnan, MBBS, MS (ENT), a committed and compassionate ENT surgeon, is currently Consultant ENT Surgeon at Madras ENT Research Foundation Pvt Ltd. and a teaching faculty at the MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing. She is the Consultant-in-Charge of the Vestibular Lab and plays an active role in MERF’s cochlear and auditory implant programs.
She began her ENT career at MERF as an Observer after completing her postgraduate degree from Vinayaka Missions Medical College, Salem. She subsequently progressed to Senior Registrar, underwent the IAOHNS Mentorship Program under Prof. Mohan Kameswaran, completed the Indian Association of Surgeons for Sleep Apnoea (IASSA) Certified Training Program under Dr. P. Vijaya Krishnan, and went on to pursue an Implantation Otology Fellowship under Prof. Mohan Kameswaran.
Dr. Rajika has presented papers and posters at several state and national ENT conferences and was an invited speaker at the 8th GCIAN World Congress on Cochlear Implants in Emerging Nations (2024, Buenos Aires, Argentina). She served on the Scientific Committee of CIGICON 2023 and the Organizing Committee of IASSACON 2024. She has attended numerous national and international conferences including IFOS 2022 (Dubai), Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh 2022 Conference, IAOHNS (Jammu & Nagpur), South Zone & Karnataka AOICON, FESS workshops, and MERF’s OSCE and TB workshops.
Her research interests include cochlear implantation in malformed cochleae, auditory brainstem implantation, vestibular diagnostics, and balloon Eustachian tuboplasty. She is currently working on a prospective study evaluating balloon Eustachian tuboplasty (BET) outcomes and the role of Transtympanic Electrically Evoked Auditory Brainstem Response (TTEABR) in decision-making for cochlear and auditory brainstem implantation (CI and ABI).
Dr. Rajika actively participates in training audiologists and regularly contributes to MERF’s surgical workshops and academic initiatives. Committed to community outreach, she has also taken part in several ENT camps across Tamil Nadu for hearing screening and otolaryngology services.
