She graduated from Thanjavur Medical College, Thanjavur & obtained her DNB from Madras ENT Research Foundation. She has been a Consultant ENT surgeon at Madras ENT Research Foundation, Mandaiveli Centre from 2008 to 2020 and a Consultant at Madras ENT Research Foundation since 2009.

 

She is a teaching faculty in the MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing.  She has a special interest in the field of Genetics, Voice and Swallowing. She has a special focus in the field of Community Otorhinolaryngology. She regularly heads a team of doctors to the rural areas of Tamil Nadu to screen for hearing loss and identify ENT disorders prevalent in the community free of cost. She has completed her doctoral research work on the “Genetics of Congenital hearing loss in South Indian population”.

 

She heads the Genetics and community otolaryngology department at MERF and is in charge of the Voice and swallowing clinic. She is the recipient of the Dr. Sandra de Souza gold medal, the AOI SOUTH ZONE GOLD MEDAL, the Senior Consultant IAOHNS gold medal and the CIGI Award. She has also received the American Academy International Visiting Scholarship award and did an Observership in the ENT department at New York Presbyterian Hospital and at Loyola Medical University in Chicago. She was an Invited Faculty at the APSCI conference held at Cyprus and the “World DNA Day conference” held in Dalian, China. She has several notable publications to her credit in National and International Journals.
