Headache Clinic

Recognising the need for a focused and systematic approach to this common yet often complex problem, the Headache Clinic at Madras ENT Research Foundation Private Limited, Chennai, was founded by Prof. Mohan Kameswaran. The clinic aims to provide comprehensive evaluation, accurate diagnosis, and appropriate management for patients presenting with recurrent headache, facial pain, sinus-related symptoms, nasal blockage, and associated ENT complaints.

The clinic is headed by Dr. Rajika Ramakrishnan, Consultant ENT Surgeon and Consultant-in-Charge of the Headache Clinic at MERF.

Clinic Timings

Every Saturday: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Headache is one of the most common symptoms experienced by patients, but its cause can vary widely from person to person. While many patients attribute headache or facial pain to sinus disease, the underlying reason may include nasal and sinus disorders, migraine, tension-type headache, neuralgia, temporomandibular joint-related pain, eye-related causes, cervical causes, or other medical conditions.

At MERF, patients are assessed through a detailed clinical history, focused ENT examination, nasal and sinus evaluation, and relevant investigations when required. The clinic is designed to differentiate ENT-related causes of headache from non-ENT causes and to guide patients towards the most suitable line of treatment. When necessary, multidisciplinary referral and coordination are advised to ensure holistic patient care.

Patients with frequent headaches, facial pressure, sinus-related complaints, nasal obstruction, recurrent “sinus headache,” dizziness-associated headache, or persistent unexplained head and facial pain may benefit from evaluation at the Headache Clinic.
