PROF. SATHIYA MURALI

MBBS, DLO, DNB, MNAMS, PhD

 

PROF. SATHIYA MURALI is one of the outstanding Neuro-Otologists in India and Heads the Department of Balance disorders and the Vestibular lab at Madras ENT Research Foundation Private limited.

 

She has presented her original work at the "International Symposium on serious fungal diseases'' at Cannes, France.

 

She attended Annual Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Course at Singapore General Hospital and Postgraduate Institute.

 

Participated in Advanced Otology workshop organized by Prof. Ugo Fisch, Fisch Foundation at Mumbai.

 

Her interests are in the field of Neurotology & Vestibular Medicine. She had special training in audio vestibular lab at Uniklinik, University of Achen, Germany in 2007.

 

She has over 30yrs experience in ENT and Head & Neck surgery. She is also a recipient of CIGI award from Cochlear Implant Group of India in 2017.

 

She graduated from Coimbatore Medical College, and subsequently obtained her DLO from Madras Medical College and DNB from National Board of Examinations.

 

She earned her Doctor of Philosophy PhD in “Factors influencing cortical auditory evoked potentials in Cochlear Implantees” from The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai, March 2018.

 

She is a teaching faculty in MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing, and conducts special courses and hands-on training for students in vestibular medicine.

 

Her other special interests are in Laser surgery, Endoscopic sinus surgery, Skull base surgery, Cochlear Implant and Micro ear surgery.

She is a member of learned Societies and Scientific Bodies:

  2. The Association of Otolaryngologists of India (AOI)

  3. The Cochlear Implant Group of India (CIGI)

  4. The Indian Association of Surgeons for Sleep Apnea (IASSA)

She has participated in several academic meetings, symposia, conferences, and workshops in India and abroad.

She has been involved in the promotion of medical education & participated in several CME programs. She has paper/poster presentations in ENT conferences and has article publications/book chapters in ENT journals and textbooks.

 

She is a reviewer for article publications in ENT journals.

 

She has participated in several free ENT camps for providing otolaryngology services to the needy, conducted across Tamil Nadu since the last twenty-five years.

Post graduate teacher, thesis coordinator for DNB (ENT) students, at Madras ENT Research Foundation, Chennai - NBE Accredited Institute (2003 – 2022).
