The Paediatric ENT clinic at Madras ENT Research Foundation provides more specialized otolaryngology care for children. Dr. A. Senthil Vadivu Consultant ENT Surgeon heads this department. This clinic is primarily concerned with the treatment of Common ENT Problems including Adenotonsillitis, Otitis media with effusion, Snoring, Paediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, Congenital Hearing Loss, Chronic Ear Problems, Paediatric Laryngotracheal stenosis and Foreign Bodies in ENT. Newborn hearing screening to detect congenital hearing loss and facilities for complete evaluation of hearing loss in children are available.

 

MERF has one of the best teams for providing hearing and also speech to children with congenital hearing loss by cochlear implantation and auditory brainstem implantation. KTP 532 LASER and Coblation technologies are available for treating adenotonsillitis, Paediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and Paediatric Laryngotracheal stenosis.

 

This department is also assisted by clinical psychologist, speech and language pathologist and occupational therapist for treating children with Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. The Department runs a special OPD for Paediatric ENT on Monday and Wednesday (8.00 AM – 10.00 AM) at the main centre.
